The Autumn League

Overview

City Bouldering is a group of climbing gyms in London that offer bouldering sessions, courses, and events for all ages and skill levels. The Autumn League is their biggest climbing competition of the year, running across 3 centres, 4 rounds, 100 blocs. The action-packed final was at their Stratford centre featuring exciting prizes, stalls, a DJ, food, drinks and a podium.

Challenge

The challenge was to capture the full story of Autumn League Round 4 + Wildcard Round + Finals Day, highlighting key values of City Bouldering, including community, mental and physical well-being, and inclusivity. The photos from the event would be used across social media, our website, and future event campaigns.

Approach

Before the event, I spent time understanding City Bouldering’s photography requirements. Olivia, the Marketing Executive, had a clear vision and created a helpful photography brief. I was tasked to document the vibrant event atmosphere, competitors, sponsors and stalls.

The shooting went smoothly. As a fellow climber, it was a fun experience being there for work while taking part in the competition from a different point of view.

Outcome

City Bouldering was pleased with my work, and I received very positive feedback. I have seen my work already being used in variouos newsletter and social media content.
